BASICS
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking,
correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be
thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3,16-17)
For God so
loved the world that He gave His one and only begotten Son, that whosoever
believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send
His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.
(John 3:16-17)
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom
the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you
of everything I have said to you. (John 14:26)
The fruit of the
Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness
and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to
Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not
become conceited, provoking and envying each other. (Galatians 5:22-26)
This is the confidence we have in
approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears
us. And if we know that He hears us--whatever we ask--we know that we have what
we asked of Him. (John 5:14-15)
Again, I tell you that if two of you on
earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in
heaven. For
where two or three are gathered together in My
name, there am I in the midst of them. (Matthew 18:19-20)
Do not
lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable. Do not have sexual
relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present
herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion. Do
not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations
that I am going to drive out before you became defiled. Even the land was
defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its
inhabitants. (Leviticus 18:22-25)
Then the
Lord rained down brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah-from the Lord out of
the heavens. Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, including all
those living in the cities-and also the vegetation in the land. (Genesis
19:24-25)
Do you
not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be
deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male
prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards
nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. (1
Corinthians 6:9-10)
The body is
not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. Do
you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take
the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! Do you not know
that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is
said: "The two will become one flesh." But he who unites
himself with the Lord is one with Him in spirit. Flee from sexual immorality.
All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually
sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the
Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price.
Therefore honor God with your body. (1 Corinthians
6:13-19)
The acts
of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition,
dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you,
as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of
God. (Galatians 5:19-21)
But among
you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of
impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. Nor
should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of
place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure
or greedy person--such a man is an idolater--has any inheritance in the kingdom
of Christ and of God. (Ephesians 5:3-5)
The fools say in their heart: "There is no God!"
They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is none among them that do
right. (Psalm 53:1)
If anyone
is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son
of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy
angels. (Mark 8:38)
But I say
unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account
thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and
by thy words thou shalt be condemned. (Matthew 12:36)
Why do you
look at the speck of sawdust in your brotherīs eye and pay no attention to the
plank in your own eye? (Luke 6:41)
But Jesus
called the children to Him and said, "Let the little children come to Me,
and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell
you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little
child will never enter it. (Luke 18:16-17)
Dear
friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something
strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the
sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.
If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the
Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. (1 Peter 4:12-14)
Ask and it
will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened
to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who
knocks, the door will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks for
bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your
children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who
ask Him! (Matthew 7:7-11)
You have
heard that it was said: "Love your neighbor and hate your enemy." (3
Deuteronomy 19:18) But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who
persecute [and slander] you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He
causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the
righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will
you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your
brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?
Therefore, be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:43-48)
Do not
gather for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and
where thieves break in and steal. But gather for yourselves treasures in
heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in
and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew
6:19-21)
Everyone
then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who
built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the
winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been
founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do
them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. (Matthew
7:24-26)
And Jesus
said,
Behold, I
stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I
will come in. Together we will feast. (Revelation 3:20)
I tell you
the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and
the spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.
You should not be surprised at My saying, you must be born again [from above]. (John
3:5-7)
A new
commandment I give unto you, that you love one another, as I love you, you shall
love one another. (John 13:34)
I am the
way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John
14:6)
All
authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have
commanded you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even unto the end of
the world. (Matthew 28:18-20)
